Treasure Coast Designs & Web Hosting
If you are looking to create your own website here are the 3 things you need and in this order:

1. Domain Name - $10 to $20 (preferably with an ICANN accredited registrar)
2. Web Hosting - Between $50 and $1,000 annually. Generally $100-$200 for most people.
3. Web Design - Between $100 and $10,000 annually. Generally $300-$500 for most people.

Please make sure you have a domain name registered with an ICANN accredited domain name registrar. Network Solutions or GoDaddy are good choices. Avoid web hosting or web design companies that want to register your domain name for you. Many stories can be found online about good people losing their domain names because of 3rd-rate web hosts trying to pass themselves off as registrars. Take control of your own domain name from the start and go with a reputable registrar, you'll save yourself a lot of time and energy in the long run.

Here is a current list of ICANN accredited registrars.

New Direction
Treasure Coast Designs will be moving in a new direction soon. That of strict commercial development. We will no longer be giving away free design templates, tutorials, or cms addons. Doing so in the past has only proved to be more time consuming to create and support. We will continue to provide the same excellent level of support for our many client sites powered by DragonflyCMS, PHP, and HTML.

Those in need of support for future theme upgrades will be dropped. We will no longer be supporting DragonflyCMS further than version 9.1.2. It's highly recommended that everyone find another theme designer for your DragonflyCMS needs if you plan to continue with the C.M.S. past 9.1.2.

For TCD clients with PHP and HTML powered sites this change of direction will not affect you.

Server Move Complete
We are now on a new server and hosted by our subsidiary company T.C.W.H.
There was only about 10 minutes of downtime as our database was being transferred after the domain propagated. Everything went smoothly.

Proudly hosted by www.TreasureCoastWebHosting.com (coming soon...)

Important Notice: Site Going Offline
Most people new to the internet just want a website right? They don't want to deal with things such as domain registration, finding a web host, and lastly a designer. Soon we will be able to offer them everything they need to get started on the web. Our new company will continue to provide the same outstanding personal attention and professional service that our T.C.D. clients enjoy.

Treasure Coast Designs will soon be offering hosting services and will be moving the T.C.D. site to our own hosting server. Hopefully the downtime will be minimal. A couple days to a week depending on how quickly things are setup on the new server.

The hosting site will be a separate entity and site separate from T.C.D.
T.C.D. will remain a design company only and will not offer hosting.

To all clients: We apologize for slow response times lately. We've been extremely busy trying to setup our new web hosting site and business. Once things are up and running we will be able to provide our usual response times to support questions. In the mean time please accept our apologies for slower than normal response times as our priorities shift to this new venture.

Expect the site to go down within the next day or so. If everything goes well the downtime will be minimal. If things go really well you won't even notice we were down at all.

Upgraded to WS_FTP Pro
I'm now running WS_FTP Pro 2007 instead of Home 2005. The upgrade and new features for the $30 upgrade were definitely worth it. Multiple connections to multiple sites, customized workspace (favorite site/directories), efficiency upgrades, unlimited concurrent transfers (default 20), the list goes on.

If you are interested in a free FTP client get Filezilla from SourceForge.
If you are interested in a feature rich single connection FTP client get WS_FTP Home.
If you are an online professional then there's only one logical choice. WS_FTP Pro.

The automated FTP site backup feature alone makes it worth the money. I think the full version is at $70 now. I had home so it was only a $30 upgrade. You'll get 6 months of free updates and professional support. You must manually upgrade though. No automated updater.

I can definitely put my stamp of approval on this product. It's already increased my efficiency and productivity vs. home and that makes me giddy as a schoolboy.

Toolbar Update
The toolbar was given some more features tonight including:

• Drop-down menu for Resource Sites now has a sub menu system to include categories of - All Add-Ons, Modules, and Themes. If any of the developers have an objection to which category you've been placed in, want a new category made, or want to be removed then please contact me.

• Site Searches for every site listed using their own native search pages instead of a google search. Sites that have not been included in the search feature but are included in RSS or Link is because those sites search engines are not public or are broken. Site owners please make sure your search module is set to allow guest viewing in order to be included.

Currently the only site that has News, Coppermine, Downloads, and Forums all included in 1 search is Myndworx Asylum. Default DF installations do not offer Forums and other modules together. Apparently the default forums has it's own separate search engine. Congrats to the MWA coders for making Forums Pro and their site such a breeze to tap into for RSS and searches.

All the features you see in the toolbar is as far as it's going to go. The way Searches, Links, and RSS are organized will hopefully change. Currently they can't be all be categorized with menus and submenu's. When or if that day comes things will continue to be better organized in the toolbar for a more user-friendly navigation system.

As always, any comments, concerns, or suggestions should be posted in the TCD Forums.
